Our History
UA Local 13, Plumbers and Pipefitters was chartered in 1890. For over 130 years we’ve been protecting the health of our nation through our Plumbing, Pipefitting and HVAC Service work.
Our contractors employ the members of Local 13 in many construction industries. We work in the Heavy Industrial, Commercial and Residential sectors. We also specialize in HVAC Service throughout our jurisdiction, where heating & cooling systems are vital to the economy during our warm summers and cold winters. Our members are required to graduate from the UA Internationals certified and accredited Joint Apprenticeship Training Program which produces the best Journeymen in the industry. This 5-year apprenticeship program which requires an apprentice to have over 10,000 hours of on-the-job training as well as over 1,600 hours of classroom education from certified instructors means that you have the most qualified workforce at your disposal.
Our workforce takes pride in partnering with our signatory contractors to deliver sophisticated piping systems to the end user which are so important to the infrastructure of our community.
We do it right the first time, so when the Ethanol Plants come to upstate New York and our Universities expand existing facilities, they can count on the members of Local 13. Along with equally important commodities such as steam systems, potable water systems, and comfort piping systems. These systems are necessary to support the facilities.
